Village life is good in Llanfrothen ,and as spring is here everything comes in to bloom ,the woodland above the pub has a carpet of bluebells the Hawthorns are in blossom ,and that new fresh green to every leaf on of the many native tress in our woodland.
Tha gardens at Plas Brondanw are taking shape after a hard winter,and Russel the head gardner has been working very hard preparing for the festival of colours that he will enveably achive in the next month.
The rumours has it that we will have new ownwers at the local shop at the end of May, so if you are in the village or staying locally call in and try the fresh bread and the fruit and veg is excellent too!
Eden ,the massage and beauty parlour next to the shop is doing very well and comes highly recommended, if your staying in the village or its surroundings,why not have a chill or pamper. Trinny’s hair salon is next door ,so you have a one stop shop in Llanfrothen.
THE COMMUNITY COUNCIL in their last meeting gave final touches to a leaflet of a network of paths that they think will suit all ages and fitness and take you through some stunning landscape, magnificent views of Snowdonia and indigenous woodland in Llanfrothen and Croesor ,watch this space for more information. The Ring has now opened its campsite so you could come and stay and walk all the paths and have a couple of pints and a well deserved meal after complition.
If you call in the village and hve five minutes to spare you must call at the school to see the children’s work with the help of Ann and ken Smith and many a local company who all volunteered to lend a hand during construction of this truly amazing work of art , not only does it take its place magnificently on the Ganolfan but also reflects on whats on offer in Llanfrothen. Have a look at the windows at the church its as if you can look into them and the local Osprey soaring high above the village. Go on make the effort!!
During the second week in July we set about refurbishing the Parlwr bach ( The Snug) We have tried to keep the charachter of the room by keeping the church pews and the pot belly stove .we have cladded the walls in douglas fir and partitioned a section for those romantics who want more privacy, the lighting is soft and gives a feeling of calm and relaxation.if you fancy eatingin this room gives us a call and ask to book table 11, 12, 13, or 14 if their 15 to 18 of you book the whole room it’s ideal for small parties!
There’s a new head gardner at the Plas and from what we hear, is very keen to contribute to village life, we look forward to meeting him and whish him luck in his new post.
On saturday 23 july around a 120 Subaru Imprezas turn up at the Ring for a light bite and a coffee the carpark was cramed with cars and with the kind permission of a farmer his drive was taken over for an hour with around 30 cars parked on it they set off towards Anglesey around 1:30 pm if any of you went on the trip i hope you had a great day and thanks for calling !
Its been a good month for organised trips in July and having seen a 120 Subarus turn up for lunch it was a completly diffrent day when vintage cars from the early 1900 rolled in for lunch most being of single cylinder and many made of wood and solid spoked wheels.
The offer was to good to turn down Esyllt and a friend celebrating her birthday was invited for a ride with myself as co pilot a maximum speed of 31mph was achived on our return with the wind at our backs from Pont Croesor to Ty Newydd Morfa.
During September the four chesnut trees at the Ring will be dropping its conckers on the floor and your all welcome to collect them for those great concker fights and further on through the village the chesnuts will be ready for christmas, Nothing better than collecting a few and eating them with a pint in front of the fire at the Ring!!
